Whenever possible, our ingredients come from Nidwalden and Central Switzerland. Through close collaboration with regional producers, we ensure short transport routes, freshness, and transparency in the origin of our products. Fresh herbs, vegetables, and responsibly sourced meat form the foundation of our dishes.
Our offerings are complemented by carefully selected specialties from around the world, all meeting high quality and sustainability standards. As a partner of Wasser für Wasser (WfW), we are also committed to responsible use of the most precious resource of all – clean drinking water – supporting projects that promote global access to it.

Our rooftop is the next stop for anyone looking to rethink après-ski. Beats, drinks, and the best panorama in Central Switzerland – this is where mountain scenery meets urban vibes. Perfect for sundowner events or exclusive DJ sessions.

Looking for something special? Atelier Hess offers 68 indoor seats, a spacious terrace, and an exclusive wine cellar for tastings. Starting June 2026, you can even book an aperitif at Joseph’s in the TITLIS Tower, followed by a dinner at Atelier Hess – including a sunset gondola ride.

At its heart is our light-filled atelier, combining contemporary design with creative charm – open, inspiring, and perfectly set against the mountain backdrop. In winter, it’s right on the ski slopes; in summer, surrounded by hiking trails. Every visit becomes an experience where dining, nature, and design merge in a truly unique way.
The name Atelier Hess honors Eugen Hess-Waser, an Engelberg pioneer with a visionary spirit. His adventurous drive continues to inspire our concept today: we combine tradition with innovation, creating a place where history isn’t confined to a museum, but comes alive on your plate and in your glass – a celebration of both past and present through every culinary experience.

How to find us
Atelier Hess is located in the Truebsee Alpine Lodge. Access is via the valley station in Engelberg, where ample parking is available.
If you’re arriving by train, the valley station can be reached in about ten minutes on foot. From there, the mountain railway will take you to Trübsee in around 15 minutes.
In winter, Atelier Hess is located right on the slopes, while in summer you’re surrounded by hiking trails. Be sure to allow enough time for your arrival and departure so you can fully enjoy the stunning landscape around Truebsee.
